Introductory Short Course – An Insight Into the Profession of Cosmetic Medicine

Course Description


This entry level course provides the underpinning knowledge to prepare the doctor for cosmetic practice as a cosmetic physician. There is a focus on multi-disciplinary practice examining the scope of practice for each cosmetic professional, including allied health workers who further support cosmetic patients. Lectures encompass the governance surrounding cosmetic practice with attention to appropriate marketing strategies, medical indemnity and the cosmetic physician’s role in a supervisory capacity.
This course is ideal for doctors considering expanding their scope of practice to cosmetic medicine.

Course Delivery

The Preliminary Essentials of Cosmetic Medicine course is delivered online via an interactive e-learning portal.

Course Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold an MBBS and current AHPRA registration as a medical doctor.

Course Duration and Study Commitment

The Preliminary Essentials of Cosmetic Medicine course is delivered over 6-weeks though can be fast-tracked if time allows. Doctors will need to commit to approximately 3 hours of study per week over 6 weeks.

Course Outcomes

On completion of the Preliminary Essentials of Cosmetic Medicine course, doctors will gain a comprehensive understanding of the scope and governance of the aesthetics industry and be able to make an informed decision about pursuing a career in cosmetic medicine.

Further Learning Pathways

The CPCA in partnership with Niche Education Group (RTO provider number 51373), are in the process of developing the Graduate Certificate of Cosmetic Medicine, which forms an integral part of the Registrar Training Program (RTP).
On completion of the Preliminary Essentials of Cosmetic Medicine course, doctors will gain credit into RTP.
